Our Story
Hi, My name is Marlei DaMata. I came to the United States in 2004 with a dream of building my own business. With over 34 years of experience in the barbering industry, I’ve dedicated my life to mastering the craft. In the beginning, I worked in American barbershops without speaking a word of English — it wasn’t easy, but I stayed focused and determined to grow.
Not long after, I had the opportunity to take over a barbershop right here in Somerville — and I’ve been on this same street ever since. DaMata Barbershop was built on hard work, a passion for the craft, and a commitment to treating every client with care and respect.
Today, with two locations on the same street, we’re proud to continue serving our community. Every haircut tells a story — and mine is written with dedication, day after day.
